The regular monthly meeting of the Oakland Heights Board of Directors convened in open and public session on January 15, 2026, in the Oakland Heights Conference Room. Notice of the meeting was made in advance thereof by posting in three places, one of the designated methods of giving notice. The meeting was called to order by President Judy Schernikau at 8:30 AM. A quorum was established with the presence of Randy Johnson, Dan Tanksley, Jr., and Elisabeth Linder. Also present was Administrator Joshua Yeutter, Business Office Manager Karen Nelson, and guest Dee Perterson. Old Business began with an update on the process of acceptance of a new board member by the City Council. Discussion was continued with an update on the many projects at the facility. The replacement for the damaged snow removal equipment has been ordered. Repair of the damaged front entrance canopy has been started by locating a contractor that is willing to repair it. A contractor has been contacted about finishing the Assisted Living dining room flooring project. The process to implementing a new electronic health record for the Nursing Home and Assisted Living has begun and will continue for several months. The Staff Christmas Party is Scheduled for February 7 and a signup sheet for meat choice is available. New Business conversation began with a live conference call from Bland and Associates to go over the results of the Annual Audit. The Audit process shows that the building is in good financial health and the accounting methods and results is commendable. A motion to accept the audit financial documents was offered, and motion was carried. The Board thanks Bland and Associates for their continued assistance. The Annual Facility Assessment was presented and the Board was made aware of adjustments made from the previous year. A motion was offered and carried to accept the assessment and implement recommendations. The facility Emergency Preparedness Plan was reviewed by the board and management personnel. A motion was offered and carried to accept and implement the plan as presented after the adjustments were presented. The Facility Water Management Plan was reviewed by the Board and Management. The existing plan did not need adjustments at this time. A motion was offered and carried to accept and implement the plan. Covid is still an ongoing issue in Long Term Care facilities. Several policies were presented to better provide guidance to staff, residents, family members, and guests. A motion was offered and carried to accept the policies pending review by the facility Medical Director. A motion was offered by Dan Tanksley Jr. to enter into Executive Session, with a second by Randy Johnson at 9:34 AM. A motion was then offered at 9:54 AM to exit Executive Session by Dan Tanksley Jr., with a second from Board President Judy Schernikau. The board reviewed current staffing levels and needs. We are hiring full-time or part-time RN/LPN for all shifts, full-time and part-time CMA for evening and night shifts for ALF, and part-time or full-time CNA/CMA for the SNF. There were no COVID-positive residents but there were 3 positive staff during December/January. Census is at 36 at Oakland Heights and 18 currently in the Assisted Living. Incident summaries were reviewed, financials were distributed, and warrants were submitted for payment. A motion was offered by Judy Schernikau, with a second from Elisabeth Linder, to pay the warrants as submitted. On roll call, all ayes, no nays, motion carried.
