Minutes of the Burt County Board of Supervisors The Burt Co. Board of Supervisors met May 14, 2025 in the Boardroom of the Burt County Courthouse in Tekamah, NE. Notice was given in advance; proof of publication is on file with Co.Clerk. The following members were present: Gary “Bird” Swanson, Jeff Kutchera, Sam Titus, Carl Pearson, Jay W. Johnson, Paul Richards and Ted Connealy. The meeting opened at 9:00 A.M. with the pledge of Allegiance. Chairman Connealy informed the public that the Open Meeting Act is posted on the wall. The agenda was approved. The minutes of the 4/28/2025 Bd of Supervisors meeting were approved. April financial reports were all approved. OFFICE UPDATES (2): (1) County Attorney – Edmond Talbot III; (2) Surveyor – Fred Franklin COMMUNICATION (2): (1) Tree Memorial Dedication to Honor Burt Co Military and First Responders - Sat. May 17, 2025 10-11 a.m. @ Summit Lake – also Nebraska State Parks free park entry day (2) U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) staff will hold local office hour for constituents in Burt County on Thursday, May 15, 2025 @ 1st floor meeting room -Courthouse 11 a.m.-12 p.m. Lot Splits (2) signed by Chairman Connealy: (1) JOHN TOBIN – 4.16 ac. & 5.99 ac. in pt. SW4SE4 of 25-21-11. (2) JAMES KELLY - 4 ac. in SE4NE4 of 34-21-10. County Health Insurance package eff. July 1, 2025 was approved. Special Designated Liquor License was approved for Andreasen, LLC to serve the beer garden for the 2025 Hoot Gibson Memorial Rodeo (Tekamah) on June 6-7, 2025. Burt County Economic Development Corp. (BCEDC): Cindy Chatt, Director: A current roster of BCEDC Board Members was shared. Chatt reported that a Housing Study for Burt County has recently been completed. PRIVATE FOUNDATION GRANTS – CO FUND 0900: Chatt reported that she is in the process of applying for more funding. At this time the board cannot accept any grant applications for the fund money. VISITORS PROMO/LODGING TAXES FUND – CO FUND 0990: A current roster of Visitors/Tourism Committee Board Members was shared. FUNDING: Info packets will be disbursed to lodging businesses explaining NE Lodging Tax requirements and local grant opportunities available to them via this fund. GUIDELINES AND APPLICATION FORM: An updated form was approved. APPLICATIONS: (3) lodging tax grants were approved (1) Pheasant Bonanza (Tekamah) Stay and Play Summer Marketing Program ($500); (2) Swedish Heritage Center (Oakland) Midsommer Celebration ($500); (3) Amber Lea Acres (Tekamah) Social Media Campaign ($500). ROADS: Ann Chytka, Highway Superintendent – (i) Road Maintenance Agreement – with Oakland TWP was approved. (ii) Road Employees ‘summer’ schedule will run June – Sept. 19, 2025.
