City of Tekamah PO Box 143 January 22, 2026 The regular meeting of the Mayor and the City Council of Tekamah, NE was held at 6:00 p.m. on January 22, 2026, and convened in open and public session at the Tekamah City Auditorium. Present were Mayor Jane Walford, Council members Matt Cass, Kelly Adamson, Colin Wright and Steve Cass. City Attorney Matt Munderlof and City Clerk Karolyn McElroy were also present. A quorum was established. Notice of the meeting was given in advance thereof by posting on January 13, 2026 in the usual three public places, a designated method of the City Council. Availability of the agenda was communicated in advance to the Mayor and Council. All proceedings hereafter shown were taken while the meeting was open to the public. Adamson moved to approve the consent agenda, Mass Cass seconded the motion. Roll call is as follows: YEAS: Matt Cass, Adamson, Wright, NAYS: None, ABSTAIN: Steve Cass, ABSENT: None. The result being a majority YEAS, it is declared the motion carried. No public comments were heard during the Public Comment section of the meeting. OLD BUSINESS: None NEW BUSINESS: A. Matt Cass moved to approve the estimate of $2,350.00 from D & S Tires for skid steer tracks, Adamson seconded. Roll call is as follows: YEAS: All, NAYS: None, ABSTAIN: None, ABSENT: None. The result being a majority YEAS, it is declared the motion carried. B. Adamson moved to approve an estimate of $4,071.68 from Cass Plumbing to replace the heat exchanger of the west furnace at the City Auditorium, Matt Cass seconded the motion. Roll call is as follows: YEAS: Adamson, Wright, Matt Cass, NAYS: None, ABSTAIN: Steve Cass, ABSENT: None. The result being a majority YEAS, it is declared the motion carried. C. Matt Cass moved to approve Karen Grass as Board Chair for the Tekamah Housing Authority due to Shirley Giles’ retirement. Term ending December of 2026. Steve Cass seconded. Currently looking for a Board replacement for Shirley’s position. Roll call is as follows: YEAS: All, NAYS: None, ABSTAIN: None, ABSENT: None. The result being a majority YEAS, it is declared the motion carried D. Adamson moved to approve Dave Wragge as Board Vice Chair for the Tekamah Housing Authority, term ending December of 2028. Matt Cass seconded. Roll call is as follows: YEAS: All, NAYS: None, ABSTAIN: None, ABSENT: None. The result being a majority YEAS, it is declared the motion carried. E. Matt Cass moved to approve the request from Luke Wakehouse and Kristen Bitter to host a cigar bar as part of their May 2, 2026 wedding reception. It would be set up in the alley west of the City Auditorium with the required fencing and Ronnie’s Bar whom is handling the alcohol will assure compliance with all NE Liquor Commissions regulations. Steve Cass seconded. Roll call is as follows: YEAS: All, NAYS: None, ABSTAIN: None, ABSENT: None. The result being a majority YEAS, it is declared the motion carried. F. Matt Cass moved to approve the City Auditorium rental rate to the Tekamah-Herman School at 50% of normal rent for ACT practice testing on February 4 th. Wright seconded. Adamson moved to approve waiving the City Auditorium rental rate to the American Legion to hold Government Day on February 11th, Matt Cass seconded.
