City of Oakland Council Proceedings May 19th, 2025 Regular Council Meeting On May 19th, 2025, the governing body met for a Regular Meeting of the Mayor and City Council of the City of Oakland, Nebraska, which was held at the Municipal Building, 401 North Oakland Avenue in Oakland, Nebraska. The public had been advised of the meeting by the publication of notice in Oakland Independent as well as three public places: City Auditorium, Post Office, and First NE Bank of Nebraska. Mayor Dan Jacobs started the meeting at 7:00 p.m. with Roll Call. Council President Nathan Anderson, Council Member Jeremiah Johansen, Council Member Scott Swenson were all in attendance. Excused: Council Member Amy Denker-Rost All present Voting: Aye (Anderson, Johansen, Swenson) - 3, Nay - 0. In attendance were Clerk Kayla Eisenmenger. All present Voting: Aye (Johansen, Anderson, Swenson) - 3, Nay - 0. 4. At 7:56pm discussion of the amount for $555.00 Medicare premium to be discussed further on the June 2025 meeting. At 8:00pm Council Member Johansen made a motion to approve the $226. 27 reimbursements for Medicare supplement for Street Department Employee Mike Francis. Motion was seconded by Council President Anderson. All present Voting: Aye (Swenson, Anderson, Johansen) - 3, Nay - 0. 5. At 8:06pm Council Member Swenson made a motion to approve Oakland Water System (Group C) Change Order 1. Motion was seconded by Council Member Johansen. All present Voting: Aye (Johansen, Anderson, Swenson) - 3, Nay - 0. 6. At 8:07pm Council President Anderson made a motion to approve Oakland Water System (Group C) Pay App 4 to Maguire Iron in the amount of $290,377.07. Motion was seconded by Council Member Johansen. All present Voting: Aye (Swenson, Anderson, Johansen) - 3, Nay - 0. 7. At 8:08pm Council Member Swenson made a motion to approve Solid Waste Department Supervisor Gerald Groene Medicare supplement in the amount of $142.15 per month. Motion was seconded by Council President Anderson. All present Voting: Aye (Johansen, Anderson, Swenson) - 3, Nay - 0. 8. At 8:09pm Council President Anderson made a motion to approve Julie Johnson to be a board member of the City of Oakland Tree Board. Motion was seconded by Council Member Johansen.
