City of Oakland Council Proceedings JANUARY 20TH 2025 Regular Council Meeting On JANUARY 20TH 2025, the governing body met for a Regular Meeting of the Mayor and City Council of the City of Oakland, Nebraska, which was held at the Municipal Building, 401 North Oakland Avenue in Oakland, Nebraska. The public had been advised of the meeting by the publication of notice in Oakland Independent as well as three public places: City Auditorium, Post Office, and First NE Bank of Nebraska. Mayor Dan Jacobs started the meeting at 7:02 p.m. with Roll Call. Council President Nathan Anderson, Council Member Jeremiah Johansen, Council Member Amy Denker-Rost, and Council Member Scott Swenson were all in attendance. All present Voting: Aye (Anderson, Johansen, Swenson, Denker-Rost ) - 4, Nay - 0. In attendance were Clerk Kayla Eisenmenger. At 7:09 pm Council Member Johansen made a motion to approve the annual renewal and new skid loader lease with park department with Steiny for 2025-2026 year. At 8:24pm Council Member Johansen made a motion to approve the hire of Dalton Bell as an officer of police department for the City of Oakland at the pay rate of $26.50 per hour , six (6) month probation with possible pay rate of $27.00 per hour. Motion was seconded by Council Member Swenson. All present Voting: Aye (Swenson, Denker-Rost, Anderson, Johansen ) - 4, Nay - 0. At 8:24pm Council Member Johansen made a motion to approve the hire of Tadd Vosberg as an officer of police department for the City of Oakland at the pay rate of $26.50 per hour , six (6) month probation with possible pay rate of $27.00 per hour. Motion was seconded by Council Member Swenson. All present Voting: Aye (Swenson, Denker-Rost, Anderson, Johansen ) - 4, Nay - 0. 3. At 7:45pm Council President Anderson made a motion to approve Deb Wad as a member of the Library Board. Motion was seconded by Council Member Denker-Rost . All present Voting: Aye (Johansen, Anderson, Denker-Rost and Swenson) - 4, Nay - 0. 4. At 7:15 pm Councilmember Johansen made a motion to open a public hearing of second reading to discuss Ordinance 757 Master Fee Schedule "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF OAKLAND, NEBRASKA, TO ESTABLISH A MASTER FEE SCHEDULE TO INCLUDE THE VARIOUS AND CERTAIN FEES CHARGED BY THE CITY FOR VARIOUS PERMITS, SERVICES, AND OTHER MATTERS; TO REPEAL CONFLICTING ORDINANCES AND SECTIONS; TO PROVIDE AN EFFECTIVE DATE. At 8:13pm Council President Anderson made a motion to approve Payment #3 to Eriksen in the amount of $93,039.58 for the Water Project. Motion was seconded by Council Member Johansen. At 8:14pm Council President Anderson made a motion to approve "Nebraska Cowboy Mounted Shooters" during the 2025 Burt County Fair on July 19th and 20th to lift the gun ban within the City limits.
