City of Oakland Council Proceedings FEBRUARY 17TH 2025 Regular Council Meeting On FEBRUARY 17TH 2025, the governing body met for a Regular Meeting of the Mayor and City Council of the City of Oakland, Nebraska, which was held at the Municipal Building, 401 North Oakland Avenue in Oakland, Nebraska. The public had been advised of the meeting by the publication of notice in Oakland Independent as well as three public places: City Auditorium, Post Office, and First NE Bank of Nebraska. Mayor Dan Jacobs started the meeting at 7:02 p.m. with Roll Call. Council President Nathan Anderson, Council Member Jeremiah Johansen, and Council Member Amy Denker-Rost were all in attendance. At 7:08pm Council President Anderson made a motion to approve the Midsommer Event to be held in the Troll Stroll area on June 22nd, 2025, from 11am-3pm. At 7:08pm Council President Anderson made a motion to approve the Midsommer Event Keno request of $1,000 to be put towards the community education of the Swedish Heritage, Park event. At 7:11pm Council Member Denker-Rost made a motion to approve the Eagle Scouts project of restoring and painting the troll stroll bridges within the East side of town park with Landon Ehlers as head project coordinator. At 7:51pm Council President Anderson made a motion to approve the MOU between the City of Oakland NE and Lower Elkhorn Natural Resources. Motion was seconded by Council Member Denker-Rost. All present Voting: Aye (Denker-Rost, Anderson, Johansen) - 3, Nay - 0. After discussions a motion was made to close the public hearing by Council President Anderson. At 8:04pm Council Member Johansen made a motion to approve the sale of real property it owns: The East 44’ of Lot 14, Block 5, City of Oakland, Burt County, Nebraska (hereinafter “the Property”) to Mr. Chad Linder for $1,000. Motion was seconded by Council Member Denker-Rost. All present Voting: Aye (Johansen, Anderson, Denker-Rost) - 3, Nay - 0. 4. At 8:06pm Council President Anderson made a motion to approve the waiving of the last reading of Ordinance 757 "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF OAKLAND, NEBRASKA, TO ESTABLISH A MASTER FEE SCHEDULE TO INCLUDE THE VARIOUS AND CERTAIN FEES CHARGED BY THE CITY FOR VARIOUS PERMITS, SERVICES, AND OTHER MATTERS; TO REPEAL CONFLICTING ORDINANCES AND SECTIONS; TO PROVIDE AN EFFECTIVE DATE" Motion was seconded by Council Member Denker-Rost. At 8:08pm Council President Anderson made a motion to approve the City of Oakland NE Park Department and Oakland-Craig Public School Park Lease. Motion was seconded by Council Member Denker-Rost. At 8:09pm Council President Anderson made a motion to approve the recommended Lot Split for Lot 14, Block 5, City of Oakland, Burt County, Nebraska (Parcel ID# 112614100). Motion was seconded by Council Member Denker-Rost. All present Voting: Aye (Johansen, Anderson, Denker-Rost) - 3, Nay - 0. 7. At 8:09pm Council Member Johansen made a motion to approve Group A-B Pay Application # 4 Eriksen Construction in the amount of $81,837.75 for Water Project. At 8:11pm Council discussed the new fiberoptic company and their locations they were possibly likely to lay within Oakland areas. At 8:12pm Council President Anderson made a motion to approve the Building Permit pertaining to Quick Current fiber optic to be placed within specific proposed routes. Motion was seconded by Council Member Denker-Rost. All present Voting: Aye (Johansen, Anderson, Denker-Rost) - 3, Nay - 0. 9. At 8:15pm Mayor and Council had their first reading of Ordinance 763 "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF OAKLAND, NEBRASKA, AMENDING THE CITY’S ZONING ORDINANCE AND REGULATIONS TO PROHIBIT “CONEX” CONTAINERS WITHIN THE C1, C2, I1, R1, R2, and RL ZONING DISTRICTS WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY; PROVIDING ABATEMENT PROCEDURES AND FOR COSTS OF REMOVAL AND A PENALTY; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE." 10.
