Allan M. Preston, 73

Allan Mac Preston, 73, of Rosalie, passed away on Monday, Aug. 29, 2022, at his home in Rosalie.  The funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2022, at the Memorial United Methodist Church in Lyons, with Pastor Toni Meyer officiating.  Burial will be in the Lyons Cemetery.  Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.  Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Bancroft.  

Allan was born on July 1, 1949, in Fremont, the son of Duane and Ann (McAvoy) Preston.  Following his graduation in 1967 from Rosalie High School, he graduated from Milford with a degree as a diesel mechanic.  Allan joined the United States Marine Corps in 1969.  On Sept. 1, 1978, Allan was united in marriage to Ruth Erickson. Together they made their home near Rosalie, where they farmed, raised horses, and shared their lives together.  Allan enjoyed working with his horses, fishing, and tinkering in his shop.  Allan and Ruth enjoyed traveling, riding their Harley Davidson Motorcycles, and spending their winters in Texas. 

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Ruth of Rosalie; Sister, Michalla (Gary) Burmester of Fremont; brother-in-law, Donald Reis of Rosalie; sisters-in-law, Judy (Mike) Schroeder of Clear Lake, Iowa, Brenda (LeRoy) Guffy of Sioux City, Iowa, and Michelle Vavra of Sioux City, Iowa; nieces and nephews, Aaron (Tammy) Reis of Homer, Ryan (Renae) Reis of Beatrice, Megan (Cory) Meyer of Bancroft, Michelle Mapes (Brad Richards) of California, Jeff Burmester (Dawn Burmester) of Fremont; and several great-nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Allan was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Susan Reis.
