Thomas Edward Beck of Lyons, NE., passed away on Saturday, May 7th, at the age of 94. Tom was born to Lee "Doc" and Pina (Barada) Beck on July 17, 1927 on the Beck farm under the maple tree. He went to Parks School and graduated from Rosalie, NE. Tom married Betty Holbrook on September 4, 1948 at the Dakota County Courthouse in Dakota City, NE. They lived on the family farm, where they farmed for 57 years. From this marriage six children were born: Connie (Larry) Bottger of Valley, NE; Gloria (Randy) Lamer of Colton, SD; Enola (Terry) Greve of Lyons, NE; Bonnie (Mike) Bacon of McCook Lake, SD; Edward Beck and Adam Beck (Korey Huffman) of Lyons, NE.
In 1948 he joined the Masonic Lodge in Bancroft, then joined the Lyons Lodge in 1971. He received the Jordan Medal for the Tekamah Lodge for being the oldest member. He also received his 70 year membership pin. He was a member of the Scottish Rite, Shriners, Eastern Star of Herman and the Methodist Church of Lyons.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son Edward. Survivors include his wife, five children, 15 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 10 from 5 to 7 pm at Pelan Funeral Services, Lyons, NE. Services will be at the Memorial United Methodist Church of Lyons on Wednesday, May 11 at 1 pm.
Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
