The regular monthly meeting of the Oakland Heights Board of Directors convened in open and public session on February 21, 2024 in the Oakland Heights Conference Room. Notice of the meeting was made public in advance thereof by posting notice in three places, one of the designated methods for giving advance notice. The meeting was called to order by Judy Schernikau, Board President at 8:30am. A quorum was established with the presence of Dan Tanksley, Jr., Kathy Rennerfeldt and Rosa Schmidt. Randy Johnson was absent and excused. Also present was Administrator David Deemer and Kailey Riskowski, CPA representing Bland & Associates. Kailey brought the financial audit information for this meeting. Karen Nelson, Business Office Manager was present during Kailey’s audit presentation. Minutes of the January 24, 2024 meeting were approved as distributed. Financial audits report prepared by Bland & Associates and presented by Kailey Riskowski shows a solid finance status for Oakland Heights future. Kitchen Range hood replacement was completed at the end of January 2024. Flashing has been ordered and the project should be completed no later than March 15, 2024 with a Fire Marshal inspection to have been completed as well. Oakland Height’s Medical Director agreement and discussion is tables for a future month. New OSHA reporting requirements are enumerated and posted for study and knowledge. David will be attending Spring Conference in Kearney March 12-14 for continuing education contact hours. Food quality discussions are being visited and will most likely need continued discussions. Risk and/or liability discussions were brought to the Board to assure a safe environment for staff and residents. The application papers for Oakland Heights ERTC have been assigned to an IRS agent. Expected outcome will most likely be late 2024 or early 2025. Oakland Heights is working with TMF which is a quality improvement organization to address any shortcomings and remain an outstanding facility in the area. Oakland Heights census is 38 and assisted living is 18. Incident summaries were reviewed, financials distributed and warrants submitted for payment. A motion was offered by Rosa Schmidt with a second from Kathy Rennerfeldt to pay warrants as submitted. On roll call all ayes no nays motion carried. Oakland Heights is hiring for a part time evening cook, full time dietary aide, CNA/CMA for night shift and for day shift. With no further business to transact a motion to adjourn was offered by Dan Tanksley, Jr. with a second from Rosa Schmidt. Meeting adjourned at 10:27am.
