The regular monthly meeting of the Oakland Heights Board convened in open and public session on August 17, 2022 at 8:30am, in the Conference Room at Oakland Heights. Notice of the meeting was made public in advance thereof by posting notice in three places, one of the designated methods for giving advance notice. The meeting was called to order by President, Judy Schernikau. Present were Randy Johnson, Kathy Rennerfeldt, and Dan Tanksley, Jr. Rosa Schmidt was absent and excused. Also in attendance was Administrator David Deemer and Mayor Ted Beckner. Minutes of the July 20, 2022 meeting were approved as distributed. David provided an update regarding the insurance claim on the Assisted Living roof. Work is still expected to be completed before winter. The annual survey by the DHHS was conducted from July 18-21 resulting in four deficiencies. The deficiencies are not significant and a Plan of Correction has been written and submitted August 12. The Fire Marshal also visited for the annual inspection for both the nursing home and assisted living. The nursing home received one deficient tag while the assisted living was deficiency free. Bland & Associates will be assisting with the Medicaid Cost Report this year. Administrator, David Deemer and Business Office Manager, Karen Nelson will be submitting the information due to Bland & Associates by August 25, 2022. Kathy Rennerfeldt made a motion, seconded by Randy Johnson to write-off $361.43 on a Medicaid Secondary Payer account. Dan Tanksley Jr., made a motion to pay $500 towards education reimbursement for Paige Knauss, Assistant Director of Nursing. Seconded by Randy Johnson. Motion carried. A proposal was submitted by A-1 Preferred in the amount of $18,906.90 to clean the air ducts and dryer vents for both the nursing home and assisted living. Randy Johnson made a motion to accept the proposal. Seconded by Dan Tanksley, Jr. Motion carried. Oakland Public Transit was approved for a wheelchair accessible minivan through the 5311 Grand program. Once the van arrives in Lincoln, David will go pick it up. There’s been a shortage of chips for the vehicle so it could be 180 days before it’s ready. Oakland Heights census is full at 42. Assisted Living census is 19 with 5 beds available. There’s an opening for a RN/LPN for evening shift, nurse aides for evenings and nights, full-time/part-time medication aide for assisted living. Incident summaries were reviewed and financials were distributed. Kathy Rennerfeldt made a motion to pay warrants as presented. Seconded by Randy Johnson. Motion carried.
