The Board of Education of the Lyons-Decatur School District No. 20 met in regular session on Monday, March 13, 2023, in the Secondary Library. Present were Archer, Bacon, Miller, Myers, Petersen, Troutman, and Vlach. Excused Absent: Brehmer and Christiansen. Jaime Bacon opened the meeting at 7:33 p.m. Public Comment – None. Superintendent Report: The renewal for the P2T JPA will be on our agenda for the April meeting. Teacher contracts have been distributed; we increased one special education teacher from .5 to 1.0 FTE to accommodate an increased caseload. We have our Frameworks external visit on March 21st and 22nd. Principal Report: We had 90% of our elementary parents attend PT conferences in February and 40% of our secondary parents. On March 1st we celebrated Read Across American Day during Cougar Culture time. The elementary students are currently selling plants through March 20th; the plants will be distributed May 5th. Congratulations and recognition was shared for all of our students earning awards in wrestling, FFA, speech, and science research. Building/Grounds Committee Report: The committee met for our bi-weekly construction meetings on February 16th and March 2nd. The following motions were made: 1. To approve the consent agenda. Discussion: James Vlach provided an update on the legislative session.
