The Board of Education of the Lyons-Decatur School District No. 20 met in regular session on Monday, July 11, 2022. Present were Archer, Brehmer, Christiansen, Miller, Myers, Petersen, and Vlach; Absent were Bacon and Troutman. Lisa Christiansen opened the meeting at 7:33 p.m. Superintendent Report: P2T Update – at the P2T Board meeting on Monday, June 27th Pender Public Schools requested to rejoin the JPA, and the board passed a resolution to do so, and then discussion was held on the 2022-2023 budget. We discussed a levy rate of $.004896, down from $.005570 last year. Caryn Anderson came and met us about switching to Nanonation Digital Trophy Case; our current contract runs through February of 2023. I will be attending a Grants for Schools Conference in Omaha on July 21st – 22nd. Building/Grounds Report: The committee and Administration met with the Architects and Construction Manager at Risk for a pricing update in late June. The timeline is still on track and precast has been bid/awarded for the gym and weight room. The Lyons city council met on Tuesday, July 5th; we attended and were granted our waivers for our design plan. The following motions were made: 1. To approve the consent agenda. 2. To approve the amended 2021-2022 budget. 3. To approve a $.10 increase in breakfast prices, a $.20 increase in lunch prices, and a $.05 increase in milk prices for 2022-2023. 4. To approve the 2022-2023 staff handbook and coaches/sponsors handbook, as presented. 5. To approve the Board Goals for 2022-2023. 6. To approve the sale and disposal of excess tangible personal property. 7. To approve the increase of the substitute teacher pay to $135/day.
