Janet Beth Huber, 71
Janet Beth Huber, age 71 of Oakland, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2024 at her home surrounded by family.
Jan was born on May 22, 1952 to Sammie and Dorothy (Erb) Oswald in West Point, NE. She graduated from Oakland-Craig High School in 1970 and received an associate degree from Hesston College in Kansas.
On July 26, 1975, she was united in marriage to Roger Huber. She was the co-owner of J & J’s Attic Consignment and Quilting in West Point, NE.
Jan was a member of Beemer Mennonite Church, where she volunteered for Voluntary Services, Mennonite Disaster Services, and was a Sunday School Teacher. She was an accomplished quilter.
She is survived by Husband-Roger Huber of Oakland, NE; Sons-Andrew (Amy Ficklin) Huber of Lenexa, KS, and Brent (Ecem Demirli) Huber of Norwalk, CT; Father-Sammie Oswald of West Point, NE; Brother-Dave Oswald of West Point, NE; Sisters-Joanne (Rod) Bixler of Oakland, NE and Lisa (Chuck) Snader of Oakland, NE; Nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jan was preceded in death by her mother-Dorothy Oswald.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at the Beemer Mennonite Church in Beemer, NE with Pastor Lewis Miller officiating.
A luncheon followed at the Beemer American Legion Hall.
Visitation was held on Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Beemer Mennonite Church and continued one hour prior to the service. Minnick Funeral Home in West Point assisted with the arrangements.
The family suggests memorials be directed in Jan's name to Mennonite Disaster Services or St. Jude's Hospital.
