Enid E. Bernard, 83

Enid E. Bernard passed away March 14, 2024, in Green Valley AZ. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. 

Enid Ernestine Penny was born February 6, 1941, in Los Angeles, CA. In 1943 she and her parents, Hazel and Elwin Penny moved to Decatur, NE where she grew up and attended school, graduating in 1958. In September 1958 she married Robert Vogltance, and from this union three children were born: R. Jay, Shane and Holly. The couple later divorced. 

On December 31, 1983, she married Allan M. Bernard. They spent 10 years together traveling and spending weekends on the houseboat on the Missouri River. She worked as a Medicare clerk at St. Francis Memorial Hospital for many years and enjoyed working with the medicare patients. 

After Al’s passing in 1994, Enid moved to Green Valley, AZ. The couple had planned to spend their retirement years there together. She was an avid traveler, traveling throughout Europe, Russia, Africa, and Australia. She traveled the United States either riding her trike or behind the wheel of her motorhome. She gave back by volunteering with multiple organizations including the Green Valley, AZ Sheriff's Auxiliary, and the Human Society.

Enid is survived by her children: R. Jay (Bonnie) Vogltance of West Point, Holly (Cory Naumann) Vogltance of Buffalo Center, IA. Grandchildren Brandy (Eric) McRoberts, Travis Vogltance, Brent (Missy) Ortmeier, Shelby (Chase) Levos, Jordan (Fiance Wes Eikmeier) Ortmeier, 9 great grandchildren, Brother Rick (Charlene) Penny of Phoenix, AZ, and many nieces and nephews and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Allan, and son Shane in 1993.
