City of Oakland Council Proceedings September 18th, 2023 On September 18th, 2023, the governing body met for a regular meeting of the Mayor and City Council of the City of Oakland, Nebraska, which was held on Monday, September 18th, 2023 following the Open Public Hearing for Budget / Budget Hearing / Final Tax Levy Hearing at the Municipal Building, 401 North Oakland Avenue in Oakland, Nebraska. The public had been advised of the meeting by the publication of notice in Oakland Independent as well as three public places: City Auditorium, Post Office, and First NE Bank of Nebraska. Mayor Dan Jacobs started meeting at 7:08 pm with Roll Call. Council President Nathan Anderson, Council Member Jeremiah Johansen, Council Member Scott Swenson, and Council Member Amy Denker-Rost were all in attendance. All present Voting: Aye (Nathan, Jeremiah, Scott, Amy)- 4, Nay - 0. In attendance were Clerk Kayla Eisenmenger and Oakland Independent Curtis Hineline. Motions were made, seconded, and carried for the following items of business: 1. At 7:10 p.m. Council President Nathan Anderson made a motion to accept and approve the August 21st, 2023 minutes. At 8:04 pm after discussion, Council Member Johansen made a motion to shelf possible action on advertising for the street department or solid waste department new hire. At 8:11 pm Council Member Swenson made a motion to accept the NPPD proposal to install electrical service to the proposed water treatment plant and with the price offered. At 8:13 pm Council President Anderson made a motion to approve the conditional Use Permit located at L1-2 & ½ Vac Ave, BLOCK 1, BREWSTER ADDITION, OAKLAND, NEBRASKA, BURT COUNTY commonly known as 604 East Third St. Motion was seconded by Council Member Johansen. At 8:14pm Council Member Johansen made a motion to approve Lot Split of TR NWN4NE4 1-21-8 PERSHING TWP, ALL IN THE CITY OF OAKLAND, BURT COUNTY, NEBRASKA. Council Member Swenson seconded the motion. At 8:17 pm Council Member Johansen made a motion to waive the three readings for Ordinance 749 "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF OAKLAND, NEBRASKA, ESTABLISHING SALARIES FOR OFFICIALS AND EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF OAKLAND, NEBRASKA; REPEALING PRIOR ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH, PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION IN PAMPHLET FORM, AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. "Motion was seconded by Council President Anderson. All present Voting: Aye (Nathan, Jeremiah, Scott, Amy)- 4, Nay - 0.
