City of Oakland Council Proceedings October 16th, 2023 On October 16th 2023, the governing body met for a regular meeting of the Mayor and City Council of the City of Oakland, Nebraska, which was held at the Municipal Building, 401 North Oakland Avenue in Oakland, Nebraska. The public had been advised of the meeting by the publication of notice in Oakland Independent as well as three public places: City Auditorium, Post Office, and First NE Bank of Nebraska. Mayor Dan Jacobs started the meeting at 7:03 p.m. with Roll Call. Council President Nathan Anderson, Council Member Jeremiah Johansen, Council Member Scott Swenson, and Council Member Amy Denker-Rost were all in attendance. All present Voting: Aye (Nathan, Jeremiah, Scott, Amy)- 4, Nay - 0. In attendance were Clerk Kayla Eisenmenger, Oakland Heights Supervisor David Deemer, Oakland Chamber Representative, Ali Keogh, Fire Chief Nick Seery, and Oakland Independent Curtis Hineline. Motions were made, seconded, and carried for the following items of business: 1. At 7:04 p.m. Council President Nathan Anderson made a motion to accept and approve the September 18th and 25th, 2023 minutes. Motion was seconded by Council Member Amy DenkerRost. At 7:48 pm Council Member Swenson made a motion to approve Mid-Iowa quote of $95,612.00 for a new compactor with an annual lease payment of up to $17,237.00 with a rate of 6.18% interest for seven years depending on how long the warranty lasts. It was stated that with the lack of finding more than one contractor to do the work requested that Mid-Iowa is the company the City would have to go with. Motion was seconded by Council President Anderson. All present Voting: Aye (Nathan, Jeremiah, Scott, Amy)- 4, Nay - 0. 6. At 8:12pm Council Member Swenson made a motion to approve Lot Split for L12 21ST CHETS Page 5 ADDITION, OAKLAND, NEBRASKA, BURT COUNTY, commonly known as 102 Circle Drive. Motion was seconded by Council Member Denker-Rost. All present Voting: Aye (Nathan, Jeremiah, Scott, Amy)- 4, Nay - 0. 7. At 8:12pm Council Member Swenson made a motion to approve Lot Split for L10 & 11 21ST CHETS ADDITION, OAKLAND, NEBRASKA, BURT COUNTY, commonly known as 1015 E. First Ave. Motion was seconded by Council Member Denker-Rost. All present Voting: Aye (Nathan, Jeremiah, Scott, Amy)- 4, Nay - 0. 8. At 8:14pm Council Member Swenson made a motion to approve Lot Split for S200’ SL1L1 (EXL2SL2L1& EX. 28ACTR) 13TH ADDITION, OAKLAND, NEBRASKA, BURT COUNTY, commonly known as 712 N Osborn Ave. Motion was seconded by Council Member Denker-Rost. All present Voting: Aye (Nathan, Jeremiah, Scott, Amy)- 4, Nay - 0. 9. At 8:15 pm Council Member Denker-Rost made a motion following the State Statute 13-2203 regulations to approve the City appreciation dinner to happen within the month of November in the year 2023. Council Member Swenson seconded the motion. All present Voting: Aye (Nathan, Jeremiah, Scott, Amy)- 4, Nay - 0. 10. At 8:16 pm Council Member Johansen made a motion to approve Resolution 2023-12.
