City of Oakland Council Proceedings MAY 16TH, 2022 On MAY 16TH, 2022, the City Council of the City of Oakland, Nebraska, met on this day at 5:30 p.m. in Regular Meeting at the Municipal Building, 401 North Oakland Avenue in Oakland, Nebraska for the regular monthly meeting. Council members present, Mayor Ted Beckner, Council President Greg Mockenhaupt, Councilman Nathan Anderson, Councilman Luke Blanc, and Councilman Jeremiah Johansen were all in attendance. POOL At 6:06pm 2022 Pool Manager Tara Currier mentioned the Kylie Penke would be interested in lifeguarding if she can get certificated also mentioned that other community members have said if they can get certified they would be interested in lifeguarding. Councilman N. Anderson asked about cutting the hours each day. It is a potential to change the hours as the season goes on if we get more employees. A few more lifeguards may be ready in June. Discussion of raising the wage $1.50 for all pool employees. At 6:14 p.m. Councilman N. Anderson made a motion to approve all 2022 Pool Employees. Motion was seconded by Councilman G. Mockenhaupt. All present Voting : Aye (Greg, Nathan ,Luke, Jeremiah,)- 4, Nay - 0. At 6:15 p.m. Councilman G. Mockenhaupt made a motion to approve the raise of all pool employees to receive a $1.50 raise on their wages. Councilman N. Anderson seconded motion. All present Voting : Aye (Greg, Nathan ,Luke, Jeremiah,)- 4, Nay - 0. At 6:31 pm Councilman J. Johansen discussed sewer plant update, next week 5-23-22 Iowa Pump to get the one pump back and then take the other 2 pumps to be repaired or serviced back at their shop., Iowa Pump will be coming from Gretna Ne from now on. Verba have ordered the valve parts it will take about 12 weeks to get in. Mentioned to the Mayor and Council that our water/sewer infrastructures are aging and that they will be working on coming up with pro-active procedures. Communication between water/sewer department and council may need to be increased. Fill pool up 2 days . Flushing hydrants will help after pool to be filled. BUSINESS: At 6:50 pm discussed the topic of the Township Levy between City of Oakland NE and Burt County - opting out that the levy on extra taxes in the future for the Council to approve will be coming for updating documents for the Burt County Assessor office. Mayor and Council will not be changing anything pertaining to the Peddlers Permit situation since given during COVID-19 crisis. At 6:55 pm motion was made to approve Lot Split Application of the City of Oakland NE and Burt Co Ag Society for the Southeast ¼ of the Southwest ¼ of Section 36, Township 22 North, Range 8 East of the 6th P.M., Burt County, Nebraska. Councilman J. Johansen seconded motion. All present Voting : Aye (Greg, Nathan ,Luke, Jeremiah,)- 4, Nay - 0. At 7:00 pm with no further items to be discussed Councilman J. Johansen made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Motion was seconded by Councilman L. Blanc . All present Voting : Aye (Greg, Nathan ,Luke, Jeremiah,)- 4, Nay - 0.
