Christmas activities abound in Oakland

Posted

With Thanksgiving coming a little later than usual in November, there have been just a few short weeks for Christmas activities in Oakland.  The Oakland Chamber of Commers, Oakland-Craig Schools, the Oakland Women’s Club, the Oakland Swedish Heritage Center and retail businesses took advantage of the opportunities to spread the holiday cheer with open houses, concerts, food and music.

Santa visits in Oakland and Craig gave area children the chance to meet the man in red and the Grinch came down off his hill to visit with the children.

The annual Oakland COC Kids Christmas was another huge hit being hosted by Harvest Moon Farm and featured crafts, food, games, and train rides with Rudolph at the lead.

Traditions were shared by the Swedish Heritage Center as they hosted the Santa Lucia Festival featuring are children in song and dance.  A poignant concert followed featuring the music of Mike Johnson, Scott Wachter, Miriel Brokaw and Cole Johnson.

Cooperative weather made the celebrations merry and bright.
