Ready!

No one has been more anxious for work on the new Oakland Processing Plant to be completed than its owners and employees.  The process began long before ground was broken earlier this year.  And the years long wait has finally arrived, and they want to share the excitement with you.

All are welcome to attend an open house at Oakland Processing’s new facility at 300 S. Logan Ave. from 3:00-6:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 31st.

Owner Mike Boell began working in a large meat processing plant for 11 years before opening Oakland Processing.  With over a decade of service to not only the Oakland community, but to customers as far away as out of state, the business took an unprecedented uptick in business due to COVID 19.

As larger processors dealt with the effects of COVID in many different situations, producers turned to smaller plants like that in Oakland.  It quickly became evident that what was once considered to be temporary has led to an ongoing increase in service for plants like Oakland Processing.

Oaklander and employee Anna Zeleney was instrumental in helping the Nebraska Legislature realize the need for funding to help smaller processing plants bear the brunt of the need created.   Zeleney worked with the Center for Rural Affairs to make money available for building projects like the one in Oakland.  She and the Boells cannot wait to show off the new plant.

“It was an uphill battle, and it is unreal that we have made it,” Zeleny excitedly shared.  “We are so relieved to have everyone back under one roof.”

Zeleney was also quick to thank the community for being so supportive through all of this.

“Come see our new facility, meet our staff, enjoy some authentic tacos, hamburgers, or hotdogs,” Oakland’s Anna Zeleney offers. “We will have door prizes being drawn! Main event from 3 to 6, and then stick around and socialize with complimentary drinks and food!”
