The 12th Annual Burt County Fair Foundation Kickoff on Saturday will announce some exciting news with the upcoming addition of a new playground to be installed just west of the 4-H Kitchen. Funds will also to be raised for continued improvements and entertainment for the Burt County Fair.
The kickoff will be held on Sat., March 2nd at the Tekamah City Auditorium. Social Hour begins at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 6:30. A live and silent auction will take place with cash bar available. “The Burt County Fair Foundation would like to thank The Friends of Oakland Foundation (FOOF) through the generosity of Marie Daubert for a grant towards the funding of the majority of our playground project,” Fair Foundation president Mitch Nissen share. “This playground will serve as great staple on the Burt County Fairgrounds for years to come provides an opportunity for community children to enjoy year-round.”
Nissen said the Foundation began to discuss improvements to the Kid’s Zone which sat between the 4-H Kitchen and the BCF Foundation Pavilion. They decided to shoot for the stars and approached FOOF to consider helping purchase the playground equipment via a FOOF grant. As Marie Daubert was a lifelong supporter of the Burt County Fair, FOOF decided to fund the full amount for the new playground through her donation to FOOF.
The new playground will feature rubberized mulch for safety and a zero degree entrance to be ADA compliant.
Nissen said that the fair board is also updating and adding an addition to Left Field to improve the bathrooms in that area. “If we are going to have like we are trying to do, we need to have the appropriate accommodations,” Nissen said.
Each year, the Burt County Fair facilitates top notch free entertainment in the Foundation Pavilion. Funds raised during the BCF Kickoff help pay for that entertainment.
