Hats Off to Girl Scout

Junior Girl Scout Troop 50015 earned the Musician Badge last Saturday morning.  The girls brought their own instruments to the meeting.  Besides the instruments they brought, the girls made hand drums, maracas, and rain sticks.  They listened to different types of music (waltz, march, hymns, ceremonial, etc.) and discussed feelings evoked from listening.  Music is an important part of our lives.

In the afternoon, the Cadette Girl Scout Troop 50164 earned their Public Speaking badge.  They had to present a radio ad to sell something found at home or the meeting place. Part of the presentation had to be silly (and they were). The girls also read a child’s book passing it around, alternating pages using an emotion given by the leader.

We found out some girls are very at ease with public speaking and some would definitely be a “listener.”  The rest of the meeting was spent preparing a display window for Girl Scout Week.  It is displayed in the First Northeast Bank of Nebraska, Uehling Branch window.  Using lots of donated hats, the girls chose “Hats Off to Girl Scouts”.
