Blair second-graders plant trees for Arbor Day

South Primary School second-graders in Sara Foulk's class tapped down dirt, spread mulch and watered three newly planted trees Friday to mark Arbor Day in Blair.

The students were assisted by members of the Blair Parks Department. The trees were planted in Stemmerman Park. A plaque with the students' names was erected next to each tree.

Prior to planting the trees, Blair Mayor Rich Hansen issued a proclamation for the 149th anniversary of Arbor Day, started by J. Sterling Morton as a special day set aside to plant trees.
